צוצוהערן

I came across the following phrase in a forverts article:

עס געפֿעלט ס׳רובֿ אַמעריקאַנער ניט זיך צוצוהערן צו לידער...

What does the second 'tsu' add/mean in tsutsuhern?

This is the "tsu" that accompanies the infinitive. It's written as a separate word if the verb has no preverb, but if there's a preverb it comes between the preverb and the verb stem, all written as one word.

איך האָב ליב צו שפּאַזירן אין װאַלד.‏

but
איך האָב ליב אַרומצושפּאַזירן אין װאַלד.‏

Similarly

איך האָב ליב צו הערן מוזיק.‏

I like to hear music.

איך האָב ליב זיך צוצוהערן צו מוזיק.‏

I like to listen to music.

Thank you! Your 4 examples were perfect in showing exactly what you meant.

Interesting that Yiddish changed to use this form, instead just using the customary manner: tsu tsuhern or tsu aribergeyn, for example.
